20th Year Reflections
Q&A with Lisa Perry, Senior Account Director
When did you first become part of the TechComms world?
2016
How did you first meet Rahme or start working with TechComms?
I first met Rahme in 2012, when I was working in-house and she supported me in developing an EMEA analyst relations programme. We worked together for three years before I left my in-house role and joined Rahme at TechComms.
What do you remember about your first project/client?
My first client was a competitor of one of my former employers. It was interesting to see the industry from a completely different perspective and experience what it was like to be on the other side of the fence!
What is your favourite TechComms memory?
I feel like I have so many! But some of my favourite early memories of working at TechComms are definitely our trips to Dublin to visit clients. We would pack the days with meetings and work but always make time to enjoy being in Dublin too. Looking back, those trips really captured the balance of hard work, friendship and fun that has made my time at TechComms so memorable.
What’s the funniest or most memorable moment you’ve had with the team?
Our Christmas and summer get-togethers with our freelance team are always memorable! We all work so closely together, but with much of that happening online, it’s always lovely to spend time together in person. We’ll usually have a quick catch-up on work before switching off and having fun – including Lifesize Monopoly, the Crystal Maze or an Escape Room. There are always funny memories that come from these get-togethers, and it’s a great reminder of how close-knit the wider TechComms team is.
What has working with TechComms taught you?
Working at TechComms over the last 10 years has taught me so much. As this was my first agency role, one of the biggest lessons has been learning how to manage multiple client accounts, priorities and expectations effectively. While no two days were ever the same in my previous in-house roles, that couldn’t be more true when working in a small PR agency! Being adaptable, staying curious and being willing to continually learn are incredibly important. Most of all, it’s taught me how much you can achieve when you have a great team around you who genuinely support one another.
What’s one thing about TechComms that hasn’t changed?
Our human-centric approach, which values every individual’s contribution and well-being, has never changed. Even as TechComms has evolved over the years, there has always been a genuine commitment to our team and to maintaining a healthy work-life balance. Building strong relationships with our clients, the media, analysts and each other continues to underpin everything we do. We care deeply about our work and the results we deliver, remaining agile and collaborative and working with the same determination to meet clients’ expectations.
If you had to describe TechComms and Rahme in three words, what would they be?
Passionate, ambitious and extremely hard working!
What do you think has enabled TechComms to reach 20 years?
I think the combination of strong relationships with each other, our clients and our key stakeholders, a relentlessness to succeed and a willingness to adapt and evolve has been a huge part of TechComms reaching our 20-year milestone.
What would you like to say to Rahme on TechComms’ 20th birthday?
A huge congratulations to you, Rahme, such an incredible and well-deserved achievement. Your continued hard work, determination and loyalty to both our clients and the TechComms team have been at the heart of the agency for the past 20 years. I feel very lucky to have been part of the TechComms journey for the last 10 years and to have shared so many great experiences and memories with you and the team along the way!
